I like how you had a whole poll for subtitles to avoid spoilers just to ignore that and get spoiled anyways ._.

I’m sad the subtitles spoiled toph’s entrance but y’all still reacted great lol. I do kickboxing, short of actually fighting, but every time I get injured, and I can’t go back to 100% and come back weaker each time, it’s so demotivating so I get how Korra feels. It puts you into a depression. I’m actually in it rn cause I got injured again and had to stop and it’s been hard even starting to want to heal myself again to get back into it. So watching this so really got me in my feels. Korra literally out here fighting her inner demons

As someone who has been through a lot of healing like Korra, I really enjoyed the way they portrayed her ongoing recovery. Her being a “‘bad patient’’’ was special to me cause like…that shit is so taxing. It’s so difficult to not lash out in the exact way she did at Katara. But it makes those healers who respond the way Katara did so amazing and so so helpful. Physical and occupational therapy is so grueling and the mental after affects are so long lasting. While I would have understood Korra making a cartoon QuickTime recovery I liked this a lot more. We can see the efforts being made and see that yeah, recovery isn’t linear.

Just really nice to see from the perspective of someone with chronic illnesses and disabilities and such.

To be fair the trailer gave away that Toph was gonna be here without showing her ? ?.

We're not. We didn't feel it changed our experience at all.

I know you were joking but I think a lot of people would watch you rewatch avatar xD Bc now you can pick up on the small things that you didn't notice the first time, and see the set up work they were laying out throughout the series.

Back in Book 3 when Korra met the Earth Queen, it was mentioned very briefly that The United Republic IS indeed Earth Kingdom territory. So we have learned this, it’s just said quickly in passing.

It's always interesting to see how Korra uses some similarities to the ATLA show with Aang. The swamp I'm almost positive is the same swamp from ATLA, and I remember how everyone there saw someone, and the guy said something like, "In the swamp we see visions of people we love. Folks we thought are gone, but the swamp tells us they are not." (Something like that at least, just from memory since I've seen the show so many times to remember some lines. )

And with Korra battling her previous Avatar State, not only did Aang have trauma when he learned the Airbenders were killed, or when Appa was stolen. But Aang also had nightmares and a battle in his mind where he had to face the Avatar State to learn to accept his destiny as the Avatar, and controlling this crazy power. Korra was poisoned so it's not the same, but there is some similarities with the scenes.

You joked about just restarting avatar but honestly it's almost better the second time around so I wouldn't be mad lol

Just btw guys mecury poisoning does goes hallucination irl. So Korra literally fighting her inner demons isn't all metaphorical.

I can't wait for them to love prince Wu.

Also it's nice that they establish Asami and Korra caring about each other a little more than the others.

A lot of people call Kuvira a proxy for the behavior Korra used to have back in season 1, basically to show her change

And now you know what the spoiler everyone was warning you about with the subtitles. Glad it didn't ruin your reaction though. Can't wait for more, season 4 is my personal favorite.

That's an awesome twist with Toph showing up. It does suck the subtitles spoiled it. Why cant they just leave subtitles unnamed until the reveal?

Apparently they did a lot of research on real symptoms and effects of metal/mercury poisoning and used that making these episodes

It was so weird to see the big villain for this season running around as a background character last season.

'Do you really believe friendship can last more than one lifetime?'

I think Korra is one of the most special animated shows. Think of how many animated shows get a sequel. Not that many. Now think of how many get a generational sequel. Even few. Korra is in that special place because it's a rare instance of a sequel which can have callbacks from the original show. Remember when Aang had a dream about meeting his Earth bending teacher in the swamp. Well here we are. And of course my favourite call back, transforming a throw away line from Toph into, in my opinion, one of the most cathartic moment in animation. You simply cannot have that with any other show because how difficult the setup is.

'It's nice to see you again twinkletoes.'

Sweet! Excited to witness y'all reaction to the time skip.

While we're here, time for more stories of how Nickelodeon screwed this show over. After season 3 didn't air on Nickelodeon, and instead aired on the cable exclusive "Nicktoons Network," Season 4...didn't air on TV at all. Season 4 was Nick.com exclusive as each episode came out. This means you needed to have, not only a cable package, but a cable+internet package to be able to watch the show when it released at 10/11pm. Keep in mind, this is before everybody and their mother was streaming, so you were using the old Nick.com video player, which was ass, at best. There is still one more story to share of how the execs screwed the show over, but I'll save that for when we get to the particular episode it pertains to.

Ah yes, the dark times. And Nick only continued to screw over their animated series from there, but none so big as with Korra.

(Side note) Do we think they know about the Korra vs Spongebob meme discourse of lower third ads?? Because that was a more funny was Nick was meddling in their shows unintentionally.

I'll say it again, but Kuvira, our great uniter, is voiced by Zelda Williams.

Sean joked at the end, but real talk... I'd watch your rerun of the series. I think it'd be fun to watch a commentary from y'all and see what things you might catch on second viewing.

Republic City was made from the Earth Kingdom territories that were annexed and colonized by the Fire Nation during the war.

You guys have actually already seen Kuvira. She shows up through out Season 3 but as a background character and has no spoken lines except for introducing herself to Bolin at the end. Her earliest apperance is when Avatar team goes to meet Su. She was one of the dancers.

The writers gad already decided she would be the antogonist for Season 4. In fact that's why she has that little pimple under her eye. It's to make her stand out from the other background characters.

That's not true, she has several spoken lines such as reporting news to Su about Zaheer, and she was one of the guards Aiwei interrogated. She's also the one who saved Korra's father and that's when we learn her name, and in the same scene she asks to go on the mission to save the airbenders with Su, which Su denies. Also the thing below her eye is a mole or a beauty mark.

    2. Matthew
