While the second episode definitely the least story relevant because most of it literally being a dream, but the references to old Hanna Barbara cartoons makes it worth it. All of the other mystery groups we saw were basically rip-offs of Mystery Inc. because of how popular the mystery solver teen group formula was, and this was such a cool way to pay homage to all them.

I’m starting to think that Fred’s obsession with traps might be a bondage fetish

One of the things I love about Mystery Inc is that a lot of the episodes really do a lot of call backs ranging from classic horror flicks to straight up being a Hanna Barbera universe that has the some old Hanna Barbera Saturday morning cartoon characters make random small or big cameos every now and then.

Idk if someone’s said it yet, but one of the showrunners confirmed the reason Fred is so “dense” in this series is because he’s slightly on the spectrum.
Frank Welker, the voice of Fred and Scoob also was really enthusiastic about that spin on the character. He loves autistic Fred, and of course his hyperfixations are mysteries and traps
