It isn't mentioned at any point in the main series, but Neptune's Semblance is water attraction (basically just hydrokinesis) which makes sense given his name. He is afraid of water because as a child he couldn't control his power and nearly killed his brother. His brother escaped thanks to his own semblance, but Neptune still blames himself.
So sad I'm late to this video, and even more so to see no one mentioned this yet! The scene in the beginning when Ruby is talking to her mom at her grave was a short tribute to the creator of the show Monty Oum who passed before volume 3's release. The birds that fly away and towards the sun is an illusion to his signature.

Good to see you all made it to season 3. This may be a tournament arc, but I think it's where the background story really gains some traction. Hope you continue to enjoy ^^

It's kinda good that they didn't watch the WoR's, because the thumbnails all show the narrator...Which results in spoilers.
The first few are kind of superfluous and you infer most of it from just watching the show. The ones starting in Volume 4 are a bit more informative.

You guys need to start watching the intros after the first episode. The episodes are designed with that in mind. Which is why the sound faded slightly at the end of episode one. It was supposed to go right into the intro.
I feel bad for Vic Mignogna, who voiced Qrow for the first two seasons he was introduced in. People falsely accused him of awful things. Rooster Teeth followed along with Funimation, which started the first official accusations, and fired him, which is a real shame because his Qrow voice was perfect!
His allegations date back a long time though.
Vic was fired from Sony, Rooster Teeth, and Funimation not only due to the allegations in 2019, but also further allegations that date years and years back of pedophilia and acting like a creep towards young kids. There is a reason he failed in his legal cases towards Funimation and his cries of defemation fell flat. Man was a creep and everyone knows it. Suck it up, the new Qrow does fine work.
Yeah, there’s allegations dating back to the 80s when he was a high school teacher.
No it wasn’t a shame Vic is a creep. He was rightly fired.

While 9 dethroned 3 in my book and if 7 & 8 would have if it was a single volume instead of 2 it just shows how incredible this volume will be!
The opening of the first episode was animated after the passing of Monty Oum, the creater of RWBY. Volume 3 is the first volume after his death, he did animate some scenes tho. Ren, the character he voiced in the first two volumes is now voiced by his brother.
Few fun facts: I don’t know if it was intentional but the two team’s named after their leader(RWBY and SSSN) have their leader’s voiced by a married couple Ruby is voiced by Lindsay Jones and Sun is voiced by Michael Jones. They were actually sent up by Monty himself because he thought they’d make a cute couple now they’re happily married with three kids.
Nora is under an Allusion to Thor. Jaune of course is Jaune of Arc, Ren is Mulan, and Pyrrha is Achilles all team JNPR members have allusions that cross dress at some point in their stories. Also Suns teammate Scarlet is an allusion to Peter Pan.

Didn't they mess up earlier when people told them to watch the trailers and they watched them for all the volumes. They might just be being careful.
