I kinda love that Sanji is carrying Buggy's head like he carries Kin in Punk Hazard lololololol
Probably didn't notice but the actor actually did arlongs laugh when he was with Nami kinda made me smile that they attempted it briefly ?
idk if it's from all the times I've rewatched one piece but for some reason, the moments haven't been getting me I've gotten close to crying but I haven't.
Also, Garp loves curry confirmed. That made me happy.
I agree with everything you said Mode. The live action adaptation was done beautifully but it didn’t impact me as emotionally as I thought it would. Also we finding out Genzo having a pinwheel in his hat to make baby Nami laugh always made me emotional and they didn’t show any connections between Nami and Genzo except for Nami returning the book. All the points you mentioned were so much more emotional and powerful for me as well. But I’ll say this Emily killed it with the “help me” scene, it made me cry.
I also think there's a poignant, thoughtful point being made in the anime/manga, that the village knows and pretends not to, so that Nami always has an out, and isn't burdened by their hopes. That was left out here.
I think this is the one part of the adaptation where the anime always hits me harder. Don't get me wrong, this was definitely moving and nicely done, but I think Nami fighting with her mom, and finding out the truth from Genzo and going back to see her only to have Arlong show up at the house is SO MUCH more tragic. And I think Nojiko knowing what Nami is doing and getting tattoos in solidarity is much more meaningful to me. I'm always a sobbing mess during the anime version, but this one didn't hit as hard for me because it focused on different story beats, and didn't give the moments that hit for me enough time to breathe.
