Just now realizing that Dr Connors is played by Rhyz Ifans who plays Otto Hightower in HotD.
controlling the firearm is the entirety of the conflict if you do not control it anyone else could, do you trust anyone else but yourself in that circumstance
Garfield may have cried better but Robertson sold the scene and made it more impactful. Uncle ben for what ever reason sees a criminal trip gun flying and tries to take it away
Nah I agree, It was Bens fault.
Everyone's an expert on what other people should do with their money . The Amazing Spider-Man 2 was the most expensive Spider-Man movie to date and made the least amount of money. They scrapped this after the second movie because not only did it make less than the original but it was also a flop with the audience and critics which is part of the reason do to Sony's desire to set up a universe without properly building one.
Sean withe Subtle foreshadow 👀👀🫡🫡
i agree with everyone else. sometimes erik criticises people logic. but its easy to do way after the fact with time to think it full y through. but real moments like this happen in a split second
What you said and also Erik criticises it as a "What would I do" or "What is the "right" thing to do" while everyone else is criticising it as "What is the movie conveying about the character by their actions"
Amazing Spider-Man did a great job setting up this universe but the second movie actually botched it in every aspect nobody thought possible
I study animals. When people say "bug" they're usually referring to anything with 6 or more legs aka creepy crawlies. Correct term is Arthropod (phylum). This includes insects, arachnids, myriapods (centi- and millipedes), crustaceans (crabs and lobsters etc.)
My headcanon is that this universe's Scorpion is the real Rodrigo Guevera
That was fair point Sean made at the end of the video 😆 😆. In regards to TASM 2 not doing well, it made back it's money sure but it probably didn't break even which most blockbuster have to do to be considered successful. Not to mention the marketing budget, or the theaters cuts. In addition, as they might see when they get to it, that film has it's flaws and didn't get the best reviews or word of mouth when it came out 🤔.
Pretty sure Greg Millers dad was a crane operator, and he always complained because he knew by dark everybody was already home. They would not still be out working, there are city sound mandates for a reason.
We didn’t appreciate these movies enough
Btw they didn’t address it in the movie but when the head honcho tells Connors to get volunteers from the veteran’s hospital, there’s another reason that Connors is disgusted besides the obvious disregard for human lives: Curt Connors is a veteran and lost his arm during service.
Oh damn, I've never put that together. Makes the lizard scene following the honcho's car even more personal than just the "you took away my research" vendetta
@1:56 Boom is outrageous
Andrew Garfield is such a fantastic actor, if you guys haven't seen it, PLEASE watch Hacksaw Ridge, it's absolutely incredible.
One thing I love the most about this Spiderman is that everytime Peter swings you can see the momentum like you see his body twist and shake anytime he swings its like real physics working as he’s in the air
The reason greg miller makes fun of that scene besides the video game nature of it, is his father is a crane operator
Kinda a rough set to be getting into Magic. The novelty of the set is neat, but the general consensus is that it's one of the worst sets to be released ever since the old Fallen Kingdoms set
Something that normally gets overlooked in this film is Peter thinking that he's not "good". The last thing his Dad ever told him was "be good". Which obviously is just a shorthand for "be on your best behavior", but Peter has so much trauma and emotional issues from his parents that he internalized the phrase "Be good." It's why he says "I'm no good for her" when talking about Gwen, and why Aunt May has to remind him that he is a good person.
So fun fact, in the comics, peter never told gwen he was spider-man, especially after her dad died because she blamed him. While MJ found out shortly after ben's death, because she lived next door to him, and saw him crawl into his window.
Y'all need to see Spoder man
I looove part 2 omg I still remember experiencing it in theaters. Second one is all gas no brakes chile
The conversation you guys had about uncle Ben's death here is interesting but I think I do agree with Eric in that the Tobey one did it a bit better. Andrew may cry better, but Peter feeling responsible and guilty for it happing because he let the same criminal go was done better with Tobey.
Every spiderman movie made after the Tobey films can't help but feel like a response to those films, hence why we either skip the origin and Ben's death or we have to do it differently. This film went with doing it different and it sadly doesn't quite hit the same 🤔. Though I've always enjoyed the nice moment with Flash Peter after that.
You guys GOTTA watch "Spectacular Spiderman" cartoon at some point, its awesome
SEAN IS THE GOAT
Can’t wait for the next one, has one of the best villain themes imo
Yeah the chemistry between Peter and Gwen was so good and I believe many people (including me) see her as the best love interest with Zendaya’s MJ being second best.
1:56:10 sean you motherfucker. you cant be makin jokes like that XD
When you watch the second one you’ll why many fans don’t like it.
Fun Marc Webb also directed a few My Chemical Romance music videos, including ‘Helena’
1:52:18 if Return of the Living Dead has taught us anything, then don’t incinerate the lab rats.
Looking forward to this one, this is my favorite Spider-Man, Andrew nailed his character. I just prefer the Tobey movies over these ones, stronger scripts in my opinion.
The thing I love about this spider man compared to Tobey. This shows just how smart Peter Parker actually is. There was nothing about Tobey that showed the Peter Parker side they only focused on Spiderman
Did they. Most people agree that Tobey was a great Peter because he captured Peter being socially-awkward and super geeky. Also, I wouldn't say they only focused on Spiderman considering what the second film was all about 🤔.
TASM 2 did good but compared to marvel didn't compare to expectations. Also, fans didn't like it this franchise as much as the past and critics disliked the second (So bad optics for the studio). With that declining sales even though it was a pretty good profit they ended up cancelling the franchise. So the MCU could work with their own Spiderman. There was an actual concept of this Spiderman joining the MCU tho.
To this day I have no idea why Uncle Ben lunged for the gun instead of just running away
This is my favorite spider man and Sean if ya look closely he doesn't drop the car the car bends and breaks under its on weight being lifted from the bumper and being jerked around
how has Ruff played the Insomniac spider-man games yet have no idea who Mr. Negative is
these dudes have terrible memory
Oh look, Rhys Ifans again. Two days in a row. Sick.
The actor who plays Dr. Conners/Lizard also plays Otto Hightower in House of the Dragon
And he was Little Nicky’s brother Adrian too
They actually mentioned the Otto Hightower connection during their House of the Dragon first episode they just put out
He don’t got an arm he’s a villain! lol I was waiting for Boom to say how do you feel about Shanks then! lol
To this day, ASM2 remains one of my biggest guilty pleasure movies. I know the story in both these films is not as strong as the MCU stories, or even the Tobey movies, but Andrew is the most comic accurate Spider-Man, even if his Peter Parker is too punk rock/cool for Peter to be. Emma Stone is also my Celeb Crush, so I love her Gwen Stacy.
Time for a No Way Home reaction after Amazing 2
I agree with Bree this is my favorite Spider man :))
i cant wait for no way home
28:09 lmaoo the smoke coming through the blanket Bree looks like she's on fire
why boom why that joke was so Unnecessary, but It made me laugh anyway
Andrew is a great Spider-Man but his movies are the weakest IMO.
1:28:00
how tf did he get his mask back on?
Andrew Garfield is far and away my favorite spiderman. What really sells me is how he talks to Jack specifically. He just is so incredibly kind and that scene always makes me cry so much!
Hope you guys check out Spectacular Spider-Man it’s only got two seasons but it’s probably the best interpretation of Spider-Man and his mythos that’ll give you a better understanding of everything.
Eh 90s spidermans more true to the character and mythos
Sean...that was uncalled for
I also think the second made less money than the first one cause while the first one was on average had more positive reviews, the second didn't do so well critically, plus with Sony wanting to compete with Marvel in making their own cinematic universe with just Spider-Man, there was a lot happening. You'll probably know more when you see the second movie
Uncle Ben's actor is also in an incredible show called Grace and Frankie.
Remember everyone, Spiderman will always be there to catch Gwen Stacy......
"It's a good illustration at least that Spiderman will always be there to catch her."
Sean you ain't slick. Lol.
Guys you’ve been watching MHA - “the essence of being a hero, is moving before you have the chance to think”. Uncle Ben, didn’t move because he thought it was smart, but because he didn’t know whether he or anyone else could be in danger so acted on impulse to prevent that possibility.
While I don’t like how brutal people are being to Eric, I do agree he completely misread the situation and characterisation.
In terms of Spider-Man for me. Tobey is better Peter. Andrew is better Spider-Man. Tom is best of both.
wait until they see man-spider
It would’ve been hilarious if they made that Rodrigo dude a villain and try to destroy oscorp all over the name tag thing😭
flash is also as much as hes a jerk earliest appearance someone who goes on to be part of peters social circle as a friend especially going to war in vietnam and coming back a veteran. Hes a good guy with a bad attitude as a teen and in some comic runs its because his fathers abusive and in others its because his dads a very strict service emmeber
W Bree, Andrew is my goat Spider-Man
fun fact peters parents in the comics are former spies killed in action
she calls hers zen day a.
only others call her zen die a
POOR PETAH PARKER
Please Guys really watch All The Amazing Spider-Man Deleted Scenes please!!
tom holland is not the best of both imo , hes very much unlike comic peter or peter spiderman. If anything tom hollands is moreso if you characterized peter the way early miles morales was in the comics( not talkin spiderverse where hes cool but ultimate comics early on where he was insecure completely out of his depth and relied on senior heroes guidance and support from his friends to get stuff done)
Wrong he is the best of both even Stan Lee himself agrees.
Tom Holland is the perfect casting choice for the role according to Stan Lee. The writing for his character and movies suffers by being roped so heavily into the MCU though :(
Hes mid at both because thebwritters for him treated him like a b list character in the mcu.
I honestly feel like they transfert the feel from the first comic and took Andrew's Spider-man to the modern age of that. Geeks were geeks then, they where smart, modern nerds started existing around that time. Late 60's early 70's. And how the community of nerds grew is really something that started in the late 80's until the late 90's. And later the internet blew everything up! But I do like to think that the geek Peter Parker from the first comics would be a bit more nerdy because the accessibility of today. So even that is something I can say to defend Tom Holland, but I personally think the Amazing movies are just better Peter Parker/Spider-man movies, even though he acts a bit cocky sometimes.
Idk I think I tend to agree with others that while Andrew is a great quippy spiderman, his Peter Parker is a little too cool. He feels less like he would get picked on and more like he would have girls crawling at his feet in high school 🤔.
tbf robin cokcy was peters middle name, if you go back pretty much all 200+ issues of marvel team up involved peter headstrongly beating up a superhero he ran into before stopping to ask if they were a bad guy or because they annoyed him before joining forces to beat up an actual villain.
his temper and ego is a big park of the hotheaded character who pivoted between that and self deprecation to make peter parker, someone with all manner of human problems but at his core an incredible morality and empathy
another thing, people forget but only a small portion of the main spiderman run has him in school. nowadays he's like a grown man lol which I hope to see the marvel movies do in the future. cuz i want less quirky teen Peter, we've had so much of it. like insomniac has some issues but where peter is as a character is kinda top notch tbh
The issue is that Marvel itself doesn't want Peter to grow up too much because they think it makes Spider-Man "less marketable." Some of the worst Spider-Man stories are a result of that policy. Most notably "One More Day." And "Sins Past".
absolutely he graduates around asm 42 in the 60s then is an adult college student or working adult for the rest of the mainstream asm comics afterwards
true tom holland's peter is just a retextured miles in most ways. doesnt make him bad necessarily but its still a fact.
its a shame as a big spiderman fan that peoples understanding of the character is so offbase from reality, its like how so many people treat man of steel as how superman should be when its really not got much in common with the character
Haha, true! But I don't understand that people can't just enjoy something like that, while there are so many variants in comics. That's what I liked about the Arrowverse, when Brandon Routh was Superman again I lost my mind just because it was hype. And Kevin Conroy returning as Bruce Wayne was even more insane. It felt like he had to pick me up and put me in Arkham.
To be fair neither is Tobey's Spiderman/Peter Parker.
take mjw for instance alot of people dont like her these days because of zebs run and how she was sorta toxic in the maguire movies, and prefer gwen stacy from the asm movies and the character in general . Where as a comic fan i know gwen stacy was a very generic damsel who achieved more significance with her death to the green goblin and mjw was everything people like about emma stones gwen stacy
oh i dont disagree theres fun to be had in all of them, its just unfortunate that the core character ends up lost so often with movie adaptations coloring public perceptions.
as a comic fan Garfield was the closet we got to how classic spiderman is, granted peter in comics has a bigger temper but this is pretty overall close. Especially how he carries himself as peter was rarely clowned on without having a comeback
especially that hot loser outcast vibe, it show eh pulled gwen stacy without knowing her name like the first 15 issues we saw her trying to get his attention and him ignoring her when he was in college
ah Yes my favorite Spider-Man Films
The Amazing Spider-Man 2012 BABY LETS GOOO
finallyyyy :)
