I wasnt going to watch this at first, but then i saw one scene on tiktok that made me laugh and decide to watch it and i am glad i did. i guess that shows not to judge a book by its cover, give things a try because i loved this. also i agree with another person in the comments, you should check out Sea Beast
This movie really hit me pretty damn hard at the end there, as someone who used to deal with, well, not so great thoughts like that. I didn't think the movie would make me cry, some of the newer movies coming out lately haven't made me cry (which is surprising, I'm such a fucking crybaby) so I was expecting the same with this. Her struggle with those thoughts hit so close to home, I am very glad you guys watched this because you guys watching this actually made me want to watch it
you guys should do Sea Beast! it was such an underrated masterpiece! Done in the same style as this movie!
I LOVED this movie. Nimona is such a good Trans allegory. And it's a blatant one, with the fluidity of the character and the way society treats her. And all of the discussions about "Why can't you just be a girl? It'd be easier for you" and the "itchy" feeling that comes with conforming to just not being who or what you need to be. Nimona is fluid in every way and it just brings me sooo much joy.
This was amazing!!! I remember reading the graphic novel years ago (before I knew any of ND Stevenson's work), and the movie did such a good job with the plot! I felt very seen as someone who relates to Nimona, 10/10.
I literally just got finished watching it, then saw that you guys reacted to it, so naturally, I sat here and watched it again because it was SO FREAKING GOOD!!
"That would suck to always have the itch to shapeshift" it sure does. I'm a little sad that this movie couldn't be a little more obvious to the general audience regarding the trans allegory with Nimona. This isn't speculation either, the original comic was written by a trans man and there are trans colors very early on in the movie. This is a movie about the trans experience.

I think this movie was like more than halfway done when they shut down BlueSky Studios and I remember seeing that it had been scrapped and canceled. People online were freaking out about it. Then they revived it and brought it to Netflix. So the fact that this amazing movie was so close to almost not getting made is bonkers!
Also, Riz Ahmed as Ballister! So it is once again that time to bully Ruff into watching Star Wars (particularly Rogue One).

2- As someone who has read the graphic novel, Nimona might be just one of her kind but tbf even in the comic her backstory is not very clear. There are like 3 theories from the comic itself (not even counting fan theories)
This is my first time watching something with yall that I've never seen before, and damn, was that fun! That was so good! I saw it trending on Tumblr and promptly ignored. Saw this on the front page and went, "sure, why not." I'm so Damn glad I watched it. Loved it! And watching it with you guys made it so much more fun.
