Watch Monsterverse of Godzilla 2014 to Godzilla X Kongand Monarch: Leagcy of Monsters Plz!!!!
I'm sorry if he's shown up before but yo who's this Christian dude? Can he show up some more? Maybe join in for the reactions? He seems pretty cool!
Ahhh, yeah... In Laos, my people, Hmong were secretly assisting the CIA for fowling the northern Vietnamese supply routes and saving any straggling american airmen who were shot down back home. After the civilians wanting to bring in their countrymen home countrywide in USA. They sort of left most of us Hmong people behind to fend for ourselves to fight and die by then our oppressors, even the people in Laos weren't happy about is, back when the French owned that country during that small time. We fought against the Japanese and we got our citizenships there during my great great grandparents time.
It really fucking sucks ass that we were massacred and illegal chemical warfare were used on my dad's time when they poisoned the waters. My dad, even now in america will not drink any water unless it's safe and purified.
Though what sucks more is the legacy my folks leave behind of paths, we'll alway fight for the right reasons, but will always lose our privileges and homes and hated by all and outcasted out our homeland, for my ansectors for theses past 3,000 years.
You guys need to check out Shin Ultraman and Shin Kamen Rider
Would yall be interested in the shin godzilla movie, before this movie it was regarded as the best godzilla movie!
Please do the Monsterverse of Godzilla, those would be fun movies for the Spring/ summer season!
begging again for you guys to watch Epic the musical. Its a 40 music long musical with animatics on YT made by the fans. its about the Odyssey.
Yes yes yes! Completely agree! It would be so cool to see them react to it!!!
I only ever watched the 90s American Godzilla movie, and I thought it was alright... But THIS film was wonderful. It was so emotional and intense, and while I was 100% rooting for Koichi to win, I also kinda felt bad for Godzilla at the same time. XD Guy got woken because of the war and bombings, and now he's all pissed and, unfortunately, taking it out on every one for it. I do kinda wonder about the locals of Odo and what their opinion of Godzilla was before it got shot at, though... Did they also fear it, or was Godzilla chill until it gets attacked?
Man this was such a good movie and I can't wait to see what they do in this universe with other monsters. I remember when I was younger I would sit at the computer in my parents room and watch the godzilla movies on Netflix when they had a bunch. I'd even order them on Netflix. One of my favorites is Godzilla S.OS.
They should watch the Godzilla and Kong Stuff cause there fun
Omg yes you guys should definitely watch Peter Jackson's King Kong (the one with Jack Black). It's such a good movie, I always forget how long it is but it's awesome
i remember having a giant dvd collection rack that sadly is now gone but i remember having so many movies alphabetically organized and my mom would yell at me for not puting the dvd's back where i found them and after a month she would reorganize it for me to just mess it up again XD
you guys should check out shin godzilla, its so good. Theres so many crazy and great shots of godzilla throughout, genuinely one of the best ones made in my opionion!!!
Hadn't got around to actually watching this, pretty damn great. I have a feeling Noriko is going to be this timeline/universe's Shobijin..So she won't turn into Mothra, but the G-Cells will give her a way to connect with her.
I highly support watching more godzilla movies
Monsterverse, Godzilla vs Destroyah, Godzilla vs SpaceGodzilla, Final Wars, GMK All Monsters Attack!,
Theres like 40 gozilla movies but they exist in batches of one all the way up to 9, and they are separated by continuity. you wanna watch any of the showa era movies that started it? watch them in order, nothing after matters. you wanna watch the 80a heisei era? just watch those, nothing before matters. the legendary godzilla movies? in order, nothing else matters. then you have ones like shin godzilla and this, which are completely stand alone and require no other watching. my personal favorite era is the heisei era from the 80s, but this one might be the best individual godzilla movie
For older Godzilla films, Destroy All Monsters is great. Has a whole
heap of monsters in it, so good to just see them all. Final War is newer
(pre-Shin) and fun.
Peeled Gozilla’s top clean off…that’s 5 big booms 2:01:23
yes please i am so down for monsterverse i wanted you guys to do it for so long
Can y'all just watch more Godzilla, Kong, and monster movies? They're just really fun.
Like The Beast from 20,000 Fathoms. its one of the monster movies that inspired the look of Godzilla
PLEASE do Godzilla 2014 next!!!
Loved the reaction and it was epic seeing you guys get into, the Godzilla Universe is massive but can be split into different eras of Japanese culture, the first would be the Showa era (1954 - 1974), the next Hesei (1984-1995) and the latter would be called Millennium (1999 - 2004), not too sure about the current era but I know the Hesei Era has a continued continuity, but I highly recommend Godzilla VS. MechaGodzilla and Terror of MechaGodzilla! Absolute gems
A few fun facts: 1. The reason Kong gets power from electricity was because the movie was originally going to be Godzilla vs Frankenstein. They changed it to Kong later, but kept the electricity stuff for some reason.
2. The dropkick isn't in Godzilla vs King Kong, it's in Godzilla vs Megalon. Jet Jaguar holds him in place while Godzilla gets a running start.
3. Sean is pretty spot on. Most Godzilla movies can be watched without ever seeing any of the others. The ones that continue plotlines mostly happened in the earlier eras. There are so many that are either just "Godzilla attacks." or "Godzilla fights another monster." They're self-contained stories just like this one, the original, or Shin Godzilla.
4. Godzilla can 100% hop. In one of the movies he has a victory dance where he jumps up in the air. Although, that was on another planet, so maybe it was lower gravity.
I would be happy with anything you guys watch big monster related, but my suggestions are Shin Godzilla, the original Godzilla, and Pacific Rim if you haven't seen them.
Shin Godzilla is directed by Hideaki Anno, who made Neon Genesis Evangelion, and it SHOWS. It has an incredibly dark tone, and it's one of the most unique movies in the franchise, which for a franchise with over 30 movies, is saying a lot. That's why everyone is recommending it.
The original is a classic, and I recommend every lover of movies should watch it at least once in their life. It's both a cultural cornerstone, and a genuinely good movie that still holds up in a lot of ways.
And Pacific Rim is just big robots fight big monsters. There's not a lot to it, but it's a lot of fun. It's exactly what you want out of that kind of movie.
Resident Godzilla nerd here, here to make points about this movie and Godzilla: Sean is pretty much correct about Godzilla’s versatility as a character in that beginning talk-Deep sea fish w/ their guts ballooning out of their mouths. Godzilla scares the fish, making them quickly swim up/down to get away, ending with them dying from the rapid pressure change.
-Shikishima and Tachibana were stuck on Odo Island for months before being picked up
-Godzillasaurus was smart enough to tell that Shikishima and Tachibana didn’t attack him
-The Takao battleship actually existed irl
-Regeneration is an ability that most versions of Godzilla have, this one having the fastest regen. He even had regen as a Godzillasaurus
-Operation Crossroads: The Godzillasaurus was accidentally caught in the explosion, and was beyond mutilated. In trying to regenerate while exposed to radiation, errors were made. Each time Godzillasaurus thought he was done healing, another layer of rough and scarred skin would stack on the previous one, until finally ending up as Godzilla.
-Godzilla blames humanity for his painful and unnatural/unintended mutation, leading to him destroying several ships and buildings, as well as targeting civilians in Ginza.
-For those curious, Godzillasaurus was 15 meters tall, and Godzilla was 50.1 meters
-Godzilla attacking a train is the equivalent of King Kong climbing the Empire State Building
-The letters Shikishima sent read something like “Tachibana attacked the US island hoppers and ran like a bitch, leading to the deaths of the other mechanics”
-Why does the bomb need safety? Idk, why do grenades have pins?
-The Atomic Breath, Godzilla’s signature attack. A beam of radiation that is typically blue in color. Only one other Godzilla variant has a breath that results in a mushroom cloud
-The meaning of "Minus One": After WWII, Japan was at it's lowest point (Zero), then Godzilla shows up and manages to bring them down even lower(Into the negatives, negative 1, -1)
Shin Godzilla is a great segway after this film, then definitely do the Monsterverse. Afterwards, perhaps try finding the original 1954 film I guess
Never in a million years would I thought a Godzilla movie would make me cry so much 😭😭 for having such a small budget, this movie was amazing. A lot of movies focus too much on the humans and not the monsters or giant robots but this movie does a great job of getting you invested in the characters. You guys should definitely check out the Monsterverse and Pacific Rim. Also anyone played Godzilla Destroy All Monsters growing up or was it just me?
For older Godzilla films, Destroy All Monsters is great. Has a whole heap of monsters in it, so good to just see them all. Final War is newer (pre-Shin) and fun.
Crap, this was meant as a post on it's own but was on XBox so messed up.
But yes, the game Destroy all Monsters was so fun. I had it on Gamecube.
so i don't know if you guys figure it out yet i haven't finished the reaction yet, but the destruction he goes home to was not cause by godzilla
Skull Island is good but that's the rebooted King Kong movie! This was bloody awesome!!!!!
Imagine if just 5 years ago, someone told you there’d be a Godzilla movie of all things that would actually make you cry…
If any of you guys haven't seen it, I'd recommend the 2005 King Kong (Extended Cut)
Others already list some good Godzilla movies. So here is another great one, Pacific Rim (2013) The movie is a love letter to kaiju movies and giant robot anime from Guillermo del Toro.
Godzilla 2014 next please 🙏
Shin Godzilla is super cool, but I heard it drags on a little bit. Just in case you guys get into the monsterverse movies (which I really hope you do) it starts with Godzilla 2014.
A good looking 3D modeled monster is rarely what takes a big bulk of movies budgets. It’s usually the giant bombastic action sequences with explosions left and right, stunts, and the like. Add a bunch of A-list actors, reshoots, rushed productions, a billion cameras, and you start to get massively inflated budget. This movie did a really good job keeping its action within scope for what they could achieve with a lower budget.
The ejector is a german design since they did not make one natively for the kamakaze
Definitely do the Monsterverse movies next!
One of the most interesting war facts I ever learned was that until a few years ago every Purple heart awarded was created in advance of 1945 in preparation for the invasion of Japan because we thought that that many men would be wounded.
I mean Iran mining its waterways nearly started WW3 in the 90's
Booms version of vietnam was not entirely accurate but I get what he was saying. Also every country leaves mines because it sucks to try to demine an area
Now that I've finished the movie... a few points for the post-viewing discussion
The Godzilla dropkick is Godzilla vs Megalon, NOT King Kong vs Godzilla. But the electricity part is real.
However, a fun behind the scenes fact about Godzilla movies... If Godzilla ever has electricity powers in the movie it's because the script was originally supposed to be a King Kong movie. Usually once production starts Toho was just like "You know, we don't want to deal with the licensing for Kong" and then they just swapped in Godzilla instead.
Also - Godzilla vs Megalon had the quickest production schedule. It was filmed in like 3-6 weeks.
Gamera is NOT a Godzilla Daikaiju. Gamera is a rival studio's answer to Godzilla. There has never been a crossover for this reason, but no joke, in the kaiju comunnity this would be equivalent of Ironman vs Batman having a fight.
And the fact you HAVEN'T SEEN SHIN GODZILLA?!? Yes, that is a must watch. I cannot wait for that reaction.
Godzilla movie recommendations
Godzilla lore path -
Godzilla 54, Godzilla Raids Again, Rodan, Mothra, Mothra vs Godzilla, Ghidorah the Three-Headed Monster
THEN Return of Godzilla, Godzilla vs Biollante, Godzilla vs Ghidorah 1991, Godzilla vs Mothra 1992, Godzilla vs Destoroyah
More like Minus One -
The original 54 (symbolism of nuclear weapons), Godzilla vs Hedorah (sybolism of human pollution), Godzilla 1985, Godzilla vs Biollante (symbolism of Biotechnology), Shin Godzilla (government mismanagement in the face of disasters, specifically the Fukushima tsunami and nuclear disaster)
Campy Godzillas
Original Mothra, Godzilla vs Kong, Son of Godzilla, Godzilla vs Megalon, Godzilla vs MechaGodzilla, Terror of Mechagodzilla, Godzilla vs King Ghidorah (1991), Godzilla vs Mechagodzilla 2, Godzilla 2000, Godzilla, Mothra and King Ghidorah Giant Monsters All-Out Attack, Godzilla Against Mechagodzilla and Tokyo SOS, Final Wars
And of course I argue ALL of the American Godzillas, including the Roland Emmerich one
Here are some recommended monster movies. Note it’s a long list and you don’t have to watch them all but are some good choices. Here are some one off movies: King Kong (2005), the Gamera trilogy in the 90’s, Godzilla (1954), Shin Godzilla, Mothra (1961), King Kong vs Godzilla (1962), Mothra vs Godzilla (1964), Ghidorah The Three Headed Monster (1964), Godzilla vs Mechagodzilla (1974). There is also the Heisei Godzilla timeline which has 7 movies: they are Return of Godzilla 1984, Godzilla vs Biolante, Godzilla vs King Ghidorah (1991), Godzilla vs Mothra: Battle for Earth, Godzilla vs Mechagodzilla 2 (1993), Godzilla vs Spacegodzilla, & Godzilla vs Destroyah. A few more one off movies I can mention are Godzilla 2000 (US Version), Godzilla, Mothra, King Ghidorah, Giant Monsters All Out Attack (2001), Godzilla Final Wars (2004). Then lastly we have the Monsterverse films which are Godzilla (2014), Kong: Skull Island, Godzilla King of the Monsters (2019), Godzilla vs Kong, & Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire.
this movie is so awesome ive watched it more than 5 times
I sounded just like Boom, answering with extreme disbelief that Ruff didnt know BOC's Godzilla. And yeah when they wrote articles amd shit saying "oh you did it for so little it must have been at least 20 million" and the director joked that that would have been an amazing budget. Think it was about 10-15. And its incredible. Shows that movies know are just like fancy paintings and modern art shit. its all just money laundering.
I’d definitely recommend the anime Godzilla singular point!
Update: Boom explained the lore of Godzilla in the beginning of the reaction. This is what happens when I comment before watching a video. 😂
I’m excited to watch this. Fantastic movie. The one thing that I would say is that while we got a great human story which is rare for the Godzilla franchise, I felt like they didn’t showcase the tragedy of Godzilla. This Godzilla was heavily destructive/ruthless but with every other version of him, Godzilla is a usually more of tragic character even in the OG 1954 movie. He usually was a creature minding his business and humanity’s atomic testings not only mutate him but traumatize him. So he’s now in constant pain because of the radiation and hates humanity for what they did to him which is why he attacks cities in most movies. However Godzilla is also great because he can be anything depending on the story. Some versions of him, he’s a hero/anti-hero, others like Minus One he’s an antagonist. Hope you can check out more in the future. :)
Also check out Shin Godzilla, another recent Godzilla movie that won a bunch of int'l awards!
FUCK YEAH
Great movie, hope we get to the Monsterverse films and maybe one day the modern Planet of the Apes films!
Can't wait for the monsterverse reactions
