They literally show the progress of the army of the dead on the world map, in the opening credits... they also did not break thru the wall by castle black, if your wondering where things are taking place, then look at the map they provide...
I hate the scene with arya and gengy because its just WEIIIRD
This season is definitely the worst but episode 2 is a nice swan song to the series we loved. I remember having high hopes after this episode ended. It had a lot of the elements we had been missing for a few seasons. And the scene around the fireplace room is one of my favorite in the whole series. And while i dont HATE the last season. You have just watched the best episode of the season. Altho the next one is pretty cool.
The Night King broke through at Eastwatch-by-the-Sea, where the Wall is weakest, not Castle Black.
Also this EP they arent at Castle Black, but the Castle of the Umbers.
Also actually, the NightKinh has left a message before, multiple times.
1st time in EP 1, Directly at the beginning, body parts in the same spiral Shake. And also back in season 3 on the Fist of the First Men. Same spiral pattern.
Jon’s already been burnt when he set the wight on fire back in like season 2
As many have said, the issue is mostly that it’s rushed. Unfortunately, the argument that they just didn’t have enough episodes doesn’t hold up once you find out HBO offered them as many as they wanted, and they chose 6. I really like the major plot points this season, it just doesn’t make sense in the timeline we are given. I also feel they underwhelmed me with build up for the battle w the Night King. It kind just… happened. I agree that they should’ve showed the dead army just steam rolling through Westeros. Like they built up how crazy insane this dead army is gonna be, but they haven’t really shown use this other than the wildling towns.
WHY AM I NOW REALIZING THAT GREYWORM IS THE MAIN CHARACTER IN INTERVIEWS WITH A VAMPIRE
The Night King broke through at Eastwatch-by-the-Sea, where the Wall is weakest, not Castle Black. And actually, he has left a message before, back in season 3 on the Fist of the First Men. Same spiral pattern.
and they were at the umbers castle not castle black
And in beginning of the first episode, there’s a shape made with the body parts.
Sam's right. Daenerys is too consumed by her "right" to rule to give up her crown. It reminds me of how old rulers used to invoke the doctrine of "divine right of rule". It's why I've been uncomfortable with the concept of her taking the Iron Throne since she gained real power in season 3.
Meanwhile, after Uncle Benjen slapped the notion out of Jon in season 1 that he was better than anyone else, Jon really hasn't been one to seek out power. But he has been a leader. A trainer for the new recruits at Castle Black. Sam's protector. A volunteer to scout out the wilding camp. Rooting out the deserters at Craster's Keep. Taking control of the defense of the Wall and Castle Black after Alistar couldn't. Volunteering to go into the lion's den to assassinate Mance. Saving the Wildling's at Hardhome. Taking a bloody dagger to the heart for doing the right thing. Going on a suicide mission beyond the Wall in the hopes of forging a grand alliance to fight off the dead. GIVING UP the title of King of the North to save his people.
Not only is he the legitimate heir, but he's a selfless leader, something Daenerys just isn't. Daenerys absolutely cares for the common people, and that gained her a lot of followers. But she has an overpowering arrogance in her conviction she is the only one who can save them. And you can see how much it grates on her when others are getting recognition and admiration.
I do enjoy you guys watching 2 episodes a week. I prefer it, but since you are about to slow to 1 episode a week due to the length of time, I will say, if you keep on watching house of the dragon 1 episode a week, you have 18 weeks of it, on top of the 4 weeks of Game of Thrones remaining. Later on, this winter they're going to release a new "Song of ice and fire" related show called A knight of the seven kingdoms. It's supposed to focus on a certain set of characters that happens something like 40 years before Robert Baratheon and Eddard Stark's rebellion (I think that's the time frame at least. It might be later on or earlier on. Either way, it's a prequel to Game of thrones that takes place between HoTD and GoT. With that rhythm, you'll be able to keep game of thrones content going uninterrupted for almost half a year. Then finally, next year, the 3rd season of House of the Dragons should release.
It is only a suggestion, but yeah, cutting down on the speed of release could keep GoT content going until more releases.
It would suck for me as you are my entertainment while I'm at work, so the more the merrier, but it'd be a smart way of getting things on. You obviously don't have to, it's simply a suggestion.
I get where you’re coming from, but I strongly disagree. From a viewer’s perspective, slowing things down to one episode a week is awful. It already feels like these reactions take forever to come out, and waiting even longer just drags it out unnecessarily. At the end of the day, this is just a reaction channel, not the show itself, so stretching it out like it’s some big event feels overblown.
I’m paying to watch their GoT content, and honestly, most of the other stuff they react to is useless to me. So when they slow down, it feels tedious, annoying, and not worth the cost. Sure, from the creator’s side it’s a smart business move to stretch content, but from a consumer perspective it sucks. I’d much rather they keep the pace up than drag this out for “half a year.”
"why not just send The Mountain". Guys I don't think Frankensteins monster is really built for subterfuge
😂 the mental imagery though
Is it possible to download this video, I have 7 hour plane ride tomorrow and need stuff to keep me occupied
yes on pc im able to just right click and save it, however for mobile I use the browser app called brave which has a built in playlist feature that plays any media you want offline if chosen
but the video isnt on youtube yet
how do i do the brave download
The timing with moving from place to place with this season boils down to the writers/directors (cant remember which🤣 ).They had another show they really wanted to do and the deadline that they could start on the other project conflicted with G.O.T so they sped this up to go work on that other project! Everyone has the same issue with this season. The bits inbetween, alot of context missing that would have been great to see if they didn't rush it. Cant wait for next episode, its going to be great!
I've had issues with the timeline the whole series lol how did Sam stumble across the walkers years ago and he didn't even go very far? Why has it taken them so long to get to the wall? And we all know Sam didn't even make it that far....
The writing is just so bad this season, they just tell you things, without showing it, and they're too focused on throw away lines that they think are either funny or epic, without any actual meat to them. Like when Arya says Sansa is "the smartest person she's ever met", like WHAT? Based on what exactly? Sansa certainly wasn't smart in season 1 when they were together, so is this based entirely off of the littlefinger stuff? And out of all the people Arya has met, Sansa is the smartest? It makes 0 sense, but the writers think if they make her say it we're supposed to think "well I guess Sansa is really smart" even though she hasn't done anything to show that. We didn't think Tyrion was smart in the first 4 seasons because everyone was constantly saying "wow tyrion is so smart", they actually showed it, despite all the characters actually saying the oposite.
Also about the whole timeline...this show's timeline hasn't made sense the entire time lmao so the walkers have been walking to castle black for 7 years but it took a day and a half for Sam to get lost out there and find them..? lol the timeline has never made sense so Idk why people only care about it in the last season.
I really don't like how time barely became a concept in S7 and S8 (and S6 to an extent), but in the few defenses I will give the show writers, the North is the largest of the 7 Kingdoms. It takes as long for Benjen and Jon to ride from Winterfell to Castle Black (or at least comparable enough that it can be seen as taking the same amount of time), as it takes all of Roberts retainers who came with him, plus Ned's, to make it to King's Landing. So, about a month.
Now, that barely excuses Theon, as he would have only had to hop from Dragonstone to the fleet outside KL, and then North, but its still feasible, and the Night King, while having a dragon, his main force are zombies, and will take a little longer than humans moving south, and Tormund and Beric were on horseback. Still, doesn't excuse the time skips or anything else, but it is somewhat understandable, I'd say.
Yeep this show butchered great characters for no reason and now it is shying away from the formula it used for 6 seasons.
FINALLY!! PEAK!!!
I know it’s been said already but when you watch episode 3 you should make sure your recording room is nice and dark like what you do with horror movie nights (if you’re able to)
I love how you guys are realising the problems with this season haha like truly this should have been a season 10 but those damn writers wanted to leave early
in my opinion a big reason they could always be under minding jon and not bran could come down to while they called him king of the north. he was still a bastard in their eyes. while bran and everyone else of importance had names.
I was just about to comment and say y'all should watch IWTV when Shawn (Sean?) mentioned it lol
The wall was destroyed by Eastwatch by the sea not castle black if im not mistaken. And they were at the Last Hearth, where sansa told the umber boy to gather his people to bring back to winterfell. Obviously didn't happen. So thats where the Nights watch and Tormund met up.
With the whole message from the night king thing, idk if you guys remember but in the first few minutes of the very first episode the walkers were layed out in a certain way kinda like how they had that walker hanging on the wall. Also in season 3 episode 3 or 4, the walkers took some of the nights watch members, added them to their army, and then cut the heads off of all of their horses and left them in a spiral like the arms on that wall and I can only assume the night king ordered that. So I think the night king does leave a “message” just not very often ig
Sorry does anyone know what the situation is with doctor who are they done, they didn’t even finish David’s run as the doctor if they are
Are y’all really gonna milk the last 4 eps over 4 weeks cause they are and extra 20 min longer.
A lot of people are obviously discussing the timing issues, but I'd like to take a comment to address the complaint about people dying. Earlier in the show it was a lot easier to eliminate characters because you have such a large pool of characters to pull from as well as plenty of time to introduce new characters for the audience to get attached to. However, as you begin head towards the latter half of the story, you need to be more selective with who you kill and why, otherwise you end up in a large scale finale where no one is left except your most critical of characters. When you have the most built up battle of the entire story like the one coming up, do you really want only the characters you need to live for the end of the story to happen? Yes, the story needed you to feel like no one was safe, but in the reality of it all, this is still a fantasy story, even if it is a darker fantasy. You need characters to live until the end, otherwise, what was the point? You also need characters that the audience has connected with to face the reality you set in the beginning, that not everyone is safe. The distinction here is important. There is a big difference between "No one is safe" and "Not everyone is safe". The first is the illusion you are trying to show the audience, the second is the truth of this kind of storytelling that is revealed to the audience in the latter half of the story.
i remember staying up until 2 am to watch the next episode on release
it's sad you've been so inflenced by the comments on these last 2 seasons. I enjoy the books more, but i really enjoy this season for what it is tbh
there are no books for this season, so how can you enjoy the books more?
Lol
the writers didnt change, they just stopped caring, they were greenlit 10 seasons of 10 episodes but they wanted to finish quickly to make star wars
I think the season is really good just like the whole show. I swear I’ve watched it completely six times at least. I give this season eight out of 10.
I'm not trying to spoil anything, but this season has, without a doubt, the worst most BULLSHIT death, among many other horse shit deaths, scenes and plots
No spoilers, but i will say, George RR (the original author) has gone in record to say Dany's fire resistance is a show exclusive perk. Paraphrasing, In the books, She did survive the funeral pyre to birth the dragons, but that was a one-time, god(s)-given event, in the books, at least, she nor any other targaryen is permanently fire-proof. They took a creative liberty there
according to the wiki, Arya is 18, and gendry is roughly like, 23 ish, by season 8. So still a little old but by this worlds standards, better than most lmao
they were offered to do 11 seasons but d&d thought 8 was enought... smfh
I don't remember which video but there was a video essay, they discussed how often we didn't actually see characters traveling, but when they set out for a journey, we just didn't see them. That gave the impression that the journey took time, where as now, Its doctor who library rules, a character decides to go somewhere and suddenly they're there. Goes back to the pacing issues, cause D&D were just trying to wrap it up as quickly as possible
Immunity to fire isn’t really a Targaryen thing. It’s Danny thing. The show really leans on it but in the book she’s only fireproof the one time.
"You're gonna have to really fuck up to fuck this battle up" - Ruff, totally convinced he's going to love this season
The only thing I'll say about how "fast" people move between places, by this point we should know the distance and time it would take. Also one person on horse can move faster than multiple since they don't have to wait up as a group. Armies take longer to get places especially if they're mostly on foot. But it is what it is, if it was the studio who cut their episode count or the writers themselves it is what it is.
"It took 7 seasons to go from there to there." It literally didnt. It took, get this, a single episode. The final episode of season 6 she sets sail for Westoros. The final minutes of the first episode of season 7, she was in dragonstone plotting. Mentioning it once is understandable. But bitching about it throughout the whole reaction is absurd.
just said this as i watched it lmao
Do you two really want to sit through episodes of travel, the same routes youve seen previously and know roughly how long they should take, rather than getting to the good stuff? I agree with the majority of people that these last two seasons should be full seasons, and maybe even two more full seasons. But to say "how did they get there so fast?" is such a weird thing to get hung up on. We know these characters, we have spent YEARS of their lives with them, just because it hasnt been literal years for you doesnt mean time hasnt passed.
They don't want to sit through episodes of travel, they want characters to set out, explore what other characters are doing in the meantime, occasionally checking in on a situation that pops up with the travelling group, then back to more storytelling. "The good stuff" varies person to person, GoT became overwhelmingly popular while focusing on those smaller details, that was tossed aside so we could jump between Dany's arrival, "Winter came for house Frey", Highgarden falling and Ollena's death, Jorah being cured of Greyscale, the last 2 Stark siblings returning to Winterfell, Dothraki battle + dragon, Littlefinger getting his just deserts, securing a Dragonglass mine, assembling the Avengers to fight beyond the wall, losing a Dragon, the queen vs queen staredown, the wall coming down, and the truth about Jon's parents.. All in 7 episodes.
I don't think they were questioning why is travel so fast, but more so if all these characters are traveling so far, why did it take the army forever to get to winterfell
Oh boy I can't wait for you guys to get to the next episode! Lol O.O
Just a small suggestion for next week, dim down the lights if you can... the episode is shot really dark!
The army of the dead are slow af.. they walking, everyone else has moved by horse I think...
Misunderstood detail after this first episode- The wall was not melted *at* Castle Black. It was melted to the east, at "Eastwatch by the Sea" so the army of the dead is not descending directly south. There's not an inconsistency with how the night's watch dudes travelled in front of the army of the dead, possibly many days in advance.
I do love Episode 2. This late in the show its just nice to see characters in the same room interacting that have never otherwise interacted.
Tyrion going from a top 5 player of the game coming from an disadvantageous position and just becoming a constantly incorrect source of sassy one liners is perhaps the single worst character writing transition in the series.
Listening to y'all conversations, I'll say this, the only difference between you and everyone who watched this season live, is that you KNOW people had beef with the season going into it. But everything y'all are theorizing and speculating and discussing, is the exact same things people were sayin' back then.
The night king is like the immortal snail. He has a dragon but absolutely no hurry in the world. Honestly he could've just stood around Winterfell for a couple months and everyone would've starved to death.
15:09 Maisie Williams (Arya) is 5'1" and Kit Harington (Jon) is 5'8".
Also don't forget Tyrions ideas also lost them Dorne and Reach, Aswell as most of her navy.
My Cloak arrived ... glad you like it
For how bad this season is, I can't fault it completely because it did give me my favorite scene of the series of Jaime knighting Brienne <3
Yeah for my many issues with this season there are some truly great scenes amidst the rubble.
You literally saw the army of the dead breach the wall... They weren't running the were walking. They only run in combat. Whenever we have seen them not fighting they were always slowly walking.
yall keep dragging on, about how long it takes to travel. they aint traveling have across a world as yall say, they traveling across a country. but been Americans, i guess yall think the world is America. come on guys
well its about 1500 miles from winterfell to kings landing, average horses range around 30 miles a day, so almost 2 months, if u rode it harder maybe a month.
Estimates from the books and maps put the distance between Kings Landing and Winterfell at around 2400 km. Westero is inspired by Europe, so lets compare. Thats the real world equivilant of the distance from Madrid to Berlin. Britain is just under 1000 km top to bottom. Norway is around 1750km. So what country were you talking about? Russia? No that can't be right, their larger than the USA.
The travel times have been a common criticism of the later seasons of the show since they first aired 6+years ago. If Sean and Ruff are taking issue with it; the guys who repeatedly comment about how they don't see the problems that other people have with shows and movies, including this one; maybe, just maybe, it's not because their American.
Westeros isn’t all of Europe. It’s England and only England. Aegon the Conqueror is literally William the Conqueror and England was once comprised of seven separate kingdoms just like Westeros.
Westeros is similar in size to South America. It's 1500 miles between Kings Landing and Winterfell. It took at least a couple months for King Robert to travel to Winterfell at the beginning of Season 1.
"Has the night king ever left a message?"
Yes, in the very first scene of the show. We just didn't understand it yet.
John burned himself when he defended Mormont by throwing a lantern at a zombie during the first season. So no, John is not immune to fire like Dany is.
was literally going to say this! He has the scar to prove that.
I feel like if we know how long it takes to get to each place we don’t need to waste time explaining it everytime.
These episodes are relatively inoffensive. I do hate that the first line of the season is yet another cock joke by Tyrion. And now even Sansa is calling him dumb... Also the Jon and Arya reunion should've been a highlight of the show, but they somehow made it really underwhelming.
Underwhelming pretty much sums up this whole season.
We have seen Jon burned. When the first White Walker was shown. He threw a lantern at it and burned himself.
Bran saying "but I'm not his brother" definitely has multiple meanings. Technically they would be cousins, Bran isn't Bran anymore, and he's not John's 'Brother' of the Nights Watch as Sam is. Which Bran would definitely also know all about.
I think the way he meant it was "I'm related to Jon, but Sam YOU'RE his brother" meaning that the closeness required to drop this news on him goes beyond just growing up together
Book Euron is so much cooler than show Euron. Show Euron was the biggest character assassination I’ve ever seen
It takes over a month to get from Kingslanding to Winterfell on horseback.
Even the actor of show Euron was disappointed with the script
NGL, I hate that Sansa immediately entered bitch-mode against Daenerys...
Jon did touch a lantern the first season. To kill the first white they encountered at castle black. He burned his hand as he threw it at the dead man. I feel like he has been touched by fire in a different way since he was brought back from the dead.
Next episode is dark, might need to adjust your settings lol. Another banger reaction love you guys and the billy's. looking forward to House Of Dragon
ah yes, the season when Sansa started wearing makeup
Let us put our artillery outside the castle walls
Full-On teleporter unlocked
A lot of this can be addressed by the fact that the showrunners got bored and really really wanted to move on to their Star wars trilogy that isn't happening. So they jettisoned a lot of stuff to get it done quicker. They were offered more episodes by Warner Brothers and HBO.
Its such a shame, game of thrones could have easily ran 10 full seasons to let all this breath, it was massivly popular till they started rushing things, also the writing just felt like it went downhill, they knew where they wanted to get but didnt flesh out the intricacies how they got there.
"This season is dark" LMAO wait until next episode, you can barely see a thing. I had to watch it in pitch black
They have the Blu-rays and 4Ks they should be fine. They turned the brightness up because on streaming it was so dark that you couldn’t see anything.
it was an artistic choice. they wanted the viewers to feel like they were there
Just because it was intentional, doesn’t mean it was good.
Good questions on the timing. You're not wrong, but in order to make that part of your brain turn down just enough to squeak through this 'avant garde' kind of storytelling "Git'r Done!" example, may I suggest the following?
The Dead did not cross the wall by Castle Black. They crossed the wall at Eastwatch By The Sea, all the way on the extreme end of the Wall where it ended in the ocean. Even farther to the northeast was Hardhome, where the Night King killed half the wildlings and resurrected them all before their corpses were cold.
Winterfell to Castle Black has already been established as taking mounted riders caring for their mounts along the way between a week and a half to two weeks.
We have also established in story that when King Robert came to Winterfell, it took his Procession Cortege one full month on the road. They were riding in litters and coaches, and they were bringing all of the outdoorsy-capable folks from the King's Court along with them. A Procession is many things, but 'fast' is not one of them. It is possible that a lone rider, pushing their mounts and backed by Lannister gold for buying lodging and fresh mounts along the way could theoretically make it in 2.5 - 3 weeks? You'd have to ride hard, but Jaime would have had no reason to dally and delay.
And you have the Night King and the unsleeping army of the Dead. However, the Dead will go into complete Standby Mode unless the Night King and the cadre of White Walkers give the Dead commands. So they're like a bicycle -- they'll get you where you want to go, eventually, but you have to ride them the whole way.
The Night King is many things, but "rushed" is not one of them. He is emminently patient, and he makes the most deadly and unstoppable Persistence Predator that the world has ever seen. A product of magic rituals eons ago by the Children of the Forest, the Night King can 'sense' magic the same equal-but-opposite way that the Three Eyed Raven can sense the wards and spells in the Wall, too. Different powers, but same class of being overall. So let's assume that the Night King is in no rush. Especially now that he and the dead are south of the Wall.
The Night King doesn't have to hurry. Winter is here, so the longer that he delays, the more of a chance he gives for natural darkness and cold snaps to erode the will of the folk to live. The more he lets die from exposure, the more reinforcements he can pick up as he travels to the next place.
So. We have the Nights Watch coming down from Castle Black where they have spent ~3 weeks since the Wall was Breached most likely reinforcing their own defenses, expecting the Night King would turn West directly and come for them. But he didn't, and after waiting and not seeing him, Jon's raven arrived from Winterfell saying, "Come to Winterfell where we'll all make our stand in the North." Already combat-ready and prepped for this conflict that hadn't materialized, given a directive that sounds a lot better than trying to defend Castle Black with less than a thousand guys vs. the Army of the Dead, they packed their crap and high-tailed it to Winterfell, maybe taking about a week? to get there. So now we're at one month between the breach of the wall and the Night's Watch arriving to reinforce the Army of the North.
In this time, if you are worried about the timing of Jaime getting to Winterfell from King's Landing, remember that after the Council in the Dragon's Arena, Daenerys and Jon and crew all had to make the month-long trek up to Winterfell. The fact that Jaime didn't catch up to them on the road points out that Jaime would have spent some time doing basic mobilization work before he had the chat with Cersei and discovered she wasn't marching north. So overall, between the Council and the Breach there was about a month of travel time, and between the Breach and the Nights Watch arriving, there was another month.
Plenty of time for everything to arrange itself. And also plenty of time for the Night King to use his spies and his own powers from the Children of the Forest's Old Gods magic to see what his "notable foes" were up to. He's met them all multiple times, he knows that any resistance coming from the Living is going to come from them. So he spies on them and sees, "Hey, they're all gathering at Winterfell. I will clean up the settlements between the Wall and Winterfell like the Umbers and Molestown harlots, oh hey look the Crows all flew south to Winterfell already, I guess it's time we follow them down there then.
Because to the Night King's reckoning, armed with an Undead Drake and his Army of the Dead, he's not expecting defeat. And any opposition is just going to swell the ranks of the dead for him. So Night King is probably thinking, "I'll do the slow march to Winterfell, clean up there completely, and by then I might have two more dragons, along with ALL of the Army of the North. Given those numbers, at that point the Night King can split up his armies and just unleash the dead without planning on the Seven Kingdoms. And when resistance mounts, at that point he'll collect the organized armies again and they'll lather/rinse/repeat of Winterfell.
It's not a bad plan. And it also gives us the timing explanations we need to at least pretend like all of this shit could really happen in the cadence presented.
Just remember, always, the Night King is supremely powerful, but also, supremely intelligent, and now, about 8,000 years old or some ridiculous number like that. Wildling Learning Annex Extension Courses FTW, Billy.
The jumping across the map thing was a major topic of issues amongst the fans when this aired. It took multiple months to get to Winterfell from Kingslanding and Jamie is there in a day or so. Same with Theon rescuing Yara then jumping across the map back to Winterfell. They wanted to have a lot of touching moments with the entire cast but the cast wasn’t close to have this happen so they remove the travel time element.
It took a little over one month for king robert, a notoriously fat man, and his gang of yes men to get to winterfell in the first episode. Season 8 is not the first instance of "map jumping."
The next episode is dark, prepare to adjust your screen settings
Yes, hide in the crypts… with all the dead people…
I think the more I watch s8 the more I enjoy it, watching the series along with you guys is the 3rd time I've watched the whole show this year alone. S8 is, imo, vastly underrated
People RAN to Google to find out how old Maisie Williams was when this episode came out. She turned 21 while this season was being filmed. So she was either 20 or 21 here. Still, it was bizarre.
Jon isn't impervious to fire like Daenerys. When Jon seasons back burned the first walker he had seen that tried to attack Lord Commander Mormont, he burned his hand picking up a hot lantern to burn it.
Get ready your flashlights boys PS they were not forced in anyway to end the season HBO was willing to give them all the money they could ever want instead they cut it short because they wanted to make a Star Wars show(that they didn’t even get in the end because of how bad the reception was to the rest of the season)
so arya kind of trained for a year and now she is the best killer in the world?
She's been training her entire life. Like, season one, she was already a skilled archer.
You're both seeing all the reasons (so far...) why people don't like how this ended. The constant quick travelling around the map, the rushing of stories that should have taken seasons to cover properly, the inconsistent use of beloved characters. There's lot of good scenes (everything with Tormund for example) but the overall just feels like the showrunners were just trying to end it at a blistering pace and it leaves a vague dissatisfaction.
The only thing that people criticize that they shouldn't, is the "quick travelling". People conveniently forget that in Episode 1, Robert travelled all the way from Kings Landing to Winterfell. People don't seem to remember that it took Dany 2 episodes to reach Vaes Dothrak from Pentos, a distance that is comparable to going from Dorne to Winterfell. People don't talk about Catelyn getting to Kings Landing from Winterfell in an episode, Tyrion getting to the Riverlands from the Eyre in an Episode. Arya getting from Saltpans to Braavos in an Episode. There are dozens of these types of scenes spread throughout the show. People only CHOOSE to be upset by this NOW because of all the other complaints they have about season 8.
Most of your examples are during peacetime where nothing important is happening anyway. Now when time is skipped, you have to assume the Night King and other characters are just sitting on their thumbs. Assuming time has passed offscreen doesn't even work for Beyond the Wall, where Jon and others could've only been waiting a day or two. Not to mention the fast traveling is happening almost every time, it might be fine if it was just sometimes. There were tons of early plotlines that happened while traveling.
This is just disingenuous, people were disappointed about the time skips long before the backlash to season 8. And in all the instances you talk about, the show makes believable a perceptable time skips lasting days to weeks, in seasons 7 and 8, there are no time skips, we jump from scene to scene that logically need to be spread out, in the matter of hours to minutes
52:40 looks like House Targaryen sigil.
Guys, HORSES ARE QUICK....ZOMBIES/UNDEAD ARE SLOW....is what the logic was....just coz they have 1 dragon the undeaddont have it so they cant move as quickly...does it makes sense? kinda but its still badly written...just go with it...and Jamie went north almost at the same time as Jon and Daeny and the rest
Dany army is a lot slower than a Jaime Lannister
being immune to fire is not something common that Targaryens have, it's was special ability that Daenerys has that was created for the show and is explained differently in the books
Just a heads up: Daenerys is the only Targaryen who has ever been fireproof. Other Targaryen's have been fire resistant to a point, but she's the only one who is completely fire proof. In the books, it only happens to her one time when she steps into Drogo's funeral pyre. They added more of those moments for the show though. So Jon wouldn't be fire proof like she is! :) You guys will see this more in HOTD, the Targs can be burned.
I can see why travel times might be confusing, but remember than the whitewalkers are literally walking the whole way. Even with the Night King on a dragon, he's gonna stick with the army to lead them
Why didn’t they just cut brans arm off so the night king wouldn’t know where to find them to buy time?
lmao the fact that this makes so much sense!!!
Also the thing about Targaryen's not being hurt by fire isn't true, Dany was a unique case and the birth of her dragons was considered like a magical event. The Targaryen's used to fight eachother with Dragons they can 100% be hurt with fire lol
lets not forget that robb saved qyburn, imagine how things would have turned out if he didnt
Dude's! Her ovaries have been screaming since he first patted Drogon in Season 7. She's a single mom and her oldest child with anger management issues engaged in a form of physical affection with him when he let him place his hand on his snout. She was already intrigued prior to that, but as soon as she saw that her oldest and favorite child liked him, it was game over.
If yall remember in the very first episode they literally said that it took the king one MONTH to make the trip from kings landing to winterfell and Jaime made it in one fucking night or two like wtffffff
Jaime went north at the same time as John with the army, he should have been faster then them, it might have a month past since then. They just don't say it. The same stuff was always in the show.
A king with a small army, family, courtiers, supplies to feed all of them, etc. It would take a dude a lot less. It wasn't a day or two either. End of season 7 they were on the boat to meet the dothraki and march up to winterfell with her full army. That's plenty of time for a single dude to get there like a day or so after.
00:09:25 If Jon were smart, he’d just use King Torrhen Stark as an analogy. Every Northerner would immediately understand. For context, Torrhen was the last King in the North before Aegon invaded Westeros. Torrhen marched his army out to fight Aegon’s but the moment he saw the dragons, he surrendered and pledged loyalty to the Targaryens. He single-handedly saved thousands of Northmen by just bending the knee. He was ever after known as the King Who Knelt. For thousands of years, the Starks remained loyal to the Targaryens until the supposed kidnapping of Lyanna and the wrongful execution of Rickard and Brandon Stark and there wasn’t a new King in the North until Robb came along.
This is the exact same thing Jon has done, swear fealty to a Targaryen to save his people.
Hundreds* not thousands everything else correct though
Hundreds were saved or hundreds of years went by?
21:30 Cersei let him in for more than just keeping him in line. She has to sell whose child she is holding.
The Nightking army is just walking slow af the entire time, they're in no rush at all. Jamie started travelling to Winterfell at the end of the last season and Theon sailed there. Whilst I get the critism about people jumping around I do think they just do a good job at explaining what time has passed. Also IDC what anybody says I love S8E2, it's one of my fave episodes.
Don't do a good job I meant
I still just can't watch Arya undress. It's so f*cking weird that they decided to do that.
"sansa is the smartest person ive ever met" is one of the biggest memes of the show
the six episodes this season wasnt an hbo decision it was the producers decision, hbo offered them a budget large enough to make more episodes but the producers chose to pool the budget for a couple episodes so they would be more spectacular so they ran out of money and had to keep it at 6 episodes
They also could have done another season if they wanted to, but chose make it this length.
Sansa was right though without realizing it. Daenerys had already pledged her army to Jon after she saw the Night King and the Army of the Dead. Jon gave up his crown and the North afterwards.
As for the Night King leaving messages, he's been doing that since Season 1. In the very first episode, he leaves a pattern of limbs in the very first scene of Season 1. But at that point you don't know anything about the Night King.
The army of the dead moves really slow, weeks and month past by in this show without notice
The two cannot get married because there will always be a power dynamic as to who is the primary monarch and who is the consort.
Also Jon has northern values and incest isn’t one of them
Actually, it seems like only immediate family is considered incest in Westeros. Plenty of non-Targaryens have married their first cousins in the lore, including Tywin and some historical Starks.
Interview with the Vampire is perfect for spooky season!
they were not force to 6 and 7 episode this biggest show on the planet they could ask for 2 more season. They wanted to end show quiclky to make there star wars that they didn't even get
So fucking hype. I love Season 8 Episode 2. It is where so many characters get everything they're due, all the good stuff that they deserved. I am not looking forward to everything after this episode lol... I'm curious and excited to see what the bois think about this season.
Sansa has good points but lacks perspective.
Meh, both sides lack perspective. One is so focused on the threat of the Night King that they can't see past it (and that's fair, since the threat is immediate and seemingly unstoppable), and the other is still sceptical of the threat and focuses on what they see as real - the winter, the power struggles, their home. Both sides have good points, both can't react to the full picture - that's just how it is sometimes.
She's muh queen
😬😬😬😅🤣🤣
I love s08! It's not the best, but it's still good.
Lets gooooo!
