Yo! That's Eddie and Stingray!
This is the first time we've seen a dragon fight in a full fledged battle. It starts off epic, but I think you've supposed to become uneasy during the course of the battle. Drogon is like a sentient weapon of mass destruction, lighting up hundreds like they're tinder, and turning them to ash. I don't blame Tyrion and Jaime for being horrified.
But yeah, I love the send off for the Queen of Thorns. Sticks 'em with one more thorn by admitting to Joffrey's murder, but only after she's taken the poison. Beautiful.
Episode 3 is such a conundrum. Jaime references Robb, as happens often with him, but Jon straight up forgets?? Dany says "Torrhen Stark was the last King in the North, or do I have my facts wrong?" Jon - crickets.
My favourite battle scene in the entire show probably. Just so freaking good
The other two sand snake girls were not Ellaria's daughter's--just Oberyn's. Only this one was her daughter.
This season has some of my favorite moments from the entire show. Dany burning through the Lanister army, Bronn's one-shot through the chaos, Lady Olenna's death confession. Realizing how cruel Cersei can actually be, and Arya's reunion with Brienne.
Back in season 1, Tyrion tells Bran that he could learn to use a bow from horseback like the Dothraki. We actually get to see that here.
Hate Cersei all you like - Lena is SUCH a good actress. The delivery of the “Why did you do that?” Was perfect. You see the pain and sorrow break through the fury and thirst for revenge. One of the best villain performances ever.
Robert Baratheon, one of the greatest warriors and the one that overthrew the Targaryen empire, only feared one battle. To meet the Dothraki on an open field.
Omg these episodes were the best! Omg Ep4 I forgot how epic it was and the tease to end it there! Omg Lol I was just as mad as the both of you! Lol
I think it would be really interesting for you two (and maybe others in the office who have seen GOT) to do a "look back on" in like a month or so, to see how your opinions on the characters and story arcs and overall plot might have changed
*Hears dothraki screaming and thundering hooves*
"Imagine its the walkers" -Ruff
*Facepalm*
Yeah you guys are not ready for the stupidity that is coming
White wedding dress is referring to her wedding night with Ramsay.
Btw, as Jaime watches all those men burn, he’s having PTSD flashbacks to Dany’s father.
“Centuries of peace and prosperity with a Targaryen on the Iron Throne and a Stark serving as Warden of the North.” Well except for that civil war of secession your ancestors had that forced the Starks and all the other houses to pick sides and die by the thousands…..
You guys forgot the ultimate swordsman - samwell fucking tarley has a valyrian steel sword
Ruff said Sam
Honestly, people have been saying GoT was getting worse but honestly S6 is still quite good, S7 is a step down but it isn't until S8 that I think its genuinely not good.
Seeing your hype for the dragon action in this series just makes me even more hyped for you to watch House of the Dragon!
Two callbacks to Season One.
“Only a fool would meet the Dothraki on an open field.”
Also, when Jaime thinks to run Daenerys down?
“He came running at me, this dumb highborn lad. Thinking he could end the rebellion with a single swing of his sword.”
Both said by Robert Baratheon
AC-130 inbound
Someone made an edit of the arya v brienne training with lightsabers
What gets me is Dany complains about how the Lanisters took all the food but then she just burns it in the fight
Yes? So the Lannisters can't use it? lol
Food is food. Wasting it is a crime lol she could have commondeered it for her people..
I mean… The point was that they took the food away from Casterly Rock, aka the Unsullied, so they can’t settle into the castle long-term.
Is episode 4 playing at 1.5 speed or is that my brain messing up?
The only real problem with this season is how large groups appear to teleport in some cases and people dont know how to accept storys ending
Can't say I agree with that comment. The big plan at the end of the season is lame and stupid. Huge risk for a minuscule chance of a payoff. Not to mention the way they go about it is braindead.
It's wild that Cersei gave Littlefinger a jetpack so he could be anywhere he needs to be within a couple day.
I love that they’re going to be watching season 5 doctor who and house of the dragon at the same time. verrrry different matt smiths
Just, seriously, night and day. It's gonna be fun watching them radically shift back-and-forth each week.
Well...except for the times Matt Smith's Doctor get MAD. Theeen it's kinda the same thing.
Just as an fyi- When Bran was talking with Sansa and he spoke of her in her wedding dress he meant her marriage to Ramsay. Bran/The Three Eyed Raven can see past and present, not future.
I know you guys realized this by the end of the episode, but wanted to clarify that we’ve never seen any evidence of “future sight” except for shaky and difficult to interpret visions in the flames
please tell me ya'll are going to watch house of the dragon next!
I seriously recommend reacting to the directors comments which are at the end of each episode. You’ll wanna see their perspective.
"Somehow Sort of Stupid forgot"
I didn't watch on piece when I was watching this but when it ended and I needed 10/10 story telling, One Piece found me
Random idea for lore the Dothraki, before battle they release several horses free before battle but leave their harnass to show they were freed for this purpose. The way they worship horses feels like it would add an extra layer of fear when you see those horses in the wild because everyone would know what it meant. Its not like they aren't going to capture a shit load more horses in the battle so its just a ritual
Lady Olenna is such a G
Out of all the major players, she truly fucking went out like a boss. Simply poisoned, sitting in a nice chair and have just had a nice glass of wine, she dies with no pain.
After dropping the fucking mic with her last words.
bronn plot armor counter like 6
Out of all the problems I've had with this show in the last couple seasons; Bronn's plotarmor is not one of them. I would die for that snarky-ass motherfucker who had the best relationship in this series with how Tyrion and him interacted. So many amazing scenes have the two of them in it, trading barbs and making us all laugh.
it's only in season 8 that the reviews for this show starting going down drastically. One of the criticisms you'll start to notice now is characters fast travel way more often. I don't mind it but it is different from previous seasons where you followed characters slowly traveling around. Like with Jon going to Dragonstone, that is far away from Winterfell and a journey like that in season one would have plot sprinkled into the journey and it could take episodes to get there, but now it is just a quick cut to Dragonstone, which I don't mind from a storytelling perspective, but people online got annoyed bc it doesn't all make perfect sense if you think about how long it takes to travel places, but the average fan wasn't thinking about that when they watched which is why the battle of the bastards is one of the highest rated episodes even though it doesn't make total sense how the knights of the vale arrived to Winterfell unnoticed.
I'm so excited to see the season 8 reaction, I'd be very surprised if they still enjoy the show at that point lmao
I don't understand how someone can be "excited" for someone to hate watch. like what kind of life does a person have to be like that lmao
I think you're in for a surprise then. Because as a non-book reader who didn't know any of the behind the scenes details about the show outwriting the books, I enjoyed season 8. I was angry and frustrated at some of the writing choices, but not enough to dislike the season as a whole.
exactly, there are good critiques for sure but the amount of people who seemingly are gleeful to see reactors wanting to hate the show is crazy. it's also funny because a lot of these same hate watchers were going on and on about how "George R Martin will show us the real ending" lmao the guy who gave the writers the ending and a lot of the stuff that has been shown(not to mention the writer who hasn't given any indication that he will ever finish another book, much less the series.)
WATCH HOUSE OF THE DRAGON!!!!!!! Youll love it
Honestly I think one of the craziest realizations that comes from Arya sparring with Brienne is Sansa kinda having to genuinely ask herself whether or not her sister *actually* killed all of those people lmao
Been waiting for episode 4 too :D LETZ GO!!!
Oh man I can't wait for next week's episode, shits gonna be awesome. Also, happy Batman day everybody!
Long Live The Bat
I love the fact that Dany asks Jon the same question he asked Mance, when he wanted him to bend the knee to Stannis, so the free folk would survive: Isnt your peoples survival more important than your pride?
Just like Mance, Jon cant say yes because he spent so much time uniting people behind a common cause that giving that up would have led to everyone going their separate ways again, splintered, not united against their common enemy.
Ruff on and on about the "Give them a dragon" shit..... Ruff, she calls them "her children". The dragons. Are her children. Would you "give away" your daughter just cuz you got a fancy friend? Is she that low value to you? xD
If you're interested in some lore after you finish the show, would definitely recommend checking out Alt Shift X on youtube. They've got some great videos, including one dedicated to Tyrion which I think you'd really enjoy.
In S1 Ned was the only person who opposed Robert killing Dany. And Bran was talking about Sansa's wedding to Ramsay, the ceremony was held in the front of the very godswood tree beside him, that's why he said "I'm sorry it had to happen here in our home." AND AND Lady Olenna's "tell Cersei; I want her to know it was me" is one of the most iconic lines in the show. RIP Queen of Thorns (and Dame Diana Rigg).
Oh they realised the Bran thing in the discussion lol
the perfect send-off for the queen of thornes. Goes out giving one last middle finger
Dothraki on an open field
Props to the actor for Davos. The writers had him originally wanting to fuck Missandei to have the drama of a love triangle, but the actor said absolutely not. Because she's so much younger than him, he felt it would put into question his relationship with Princess Shireen.
Sansa got married to Ramsay in Winterfel. That's the night Bran was talking about.
Yeah the reason she looked shocked was because that's when Ramsey raped her for the first time
Speaking about the assassins sent to kill baby Dany: Ned actually tried to resign as hand of the king because he wanted no part in the killing of a baby. It was in season one. Dany pisses me off the entire scene with Jon. Jon walked circles around her.
Seems to me like you're pissed off because YOU have information that Dany doesn't. Yes, it was in season 1, but all Dany knows is that the men in Westeros tried to have her and her baby killed. She didn't get to watch the other side of it like you did. Maybe have some media literacy and stop being mad at characters for reacting to the the reality they know instead of the reality you do.
Teleportation unlocked
Not teleportation, time skip. Jamie literally traveled from Highgarden to Kings Landing, what makes you think Dany didn't have enough time to get from Dragonstone to Kings Landing? This always annoyed me about the criticisms surrounding the last two seasons. Time is still moving, they just aren't showing the in-between bits.
That doesnt bother me as much as the writing and stuff. Like at this point i dont think we really need those long stretches of time where characters are just moving from one place to another. Like, we know these characters, we dont need time with them to get to know them.
I totally agree with you on the One Piece comparison. I’ve watched both your OP reactions and when I saw you started GOT as well, I was like „they’re gonna love this one as well“
The Sorta Stupid comments knows no king, but the king in the north, whose name is Billy
ALL HAIL KING BILLY
