unfortunately, it wasn't just "some random person" showing up and saying pink is for girls, its a lot worse than that honestly. pink was a boys color before Hitler made gay men wear pink triangles to show they were gay. after that, pink slowly became a 'feminine' color.

To answer your guys question at 56:00. Actually all babies regardless of gender used to wear white dress's from the ages of 0 to 6 prior to the 1920s. Back in the day parents had very little money and dresses back then were much easier to hem as the children grew than pants. So kids would often have maybe one or two outfits till about 6 years old. Colors started getting assigned to genders in the twenties when advertising became a really big deal. However, unlike today, pink was assigned to boys because it is associated with red which they saw as a strong, powerful color while blue was assigned to girls seen as a more delicate, softer color in comparison. This changed yet again during WWII. In Nazi controlled Germany, Hitler started assigning all gay men with a big pink triangle on their back. When people in the US saw this, they then started associating pink with being more feminine and gay and since then the colors have been reversed and no one's bothered to change it since.

Btw here’s a not so fun fact: George Washington’s teeth weren’t made of wood. They were made of something far more horrifying. The top row were made of elephant and walrus ivory and the bottom half were slave teeth. Slave teeth. Let that soak in. And yes he bought them from the slaves but I don’t know how much better that makes it.
