If I were Ben, I'd become alien x at a moment when there isn't a crisis. The prospects of getting into an agreement with the other two seems to far outweigh the disadvantage of losing some control.

That was always my thought. Ben just brushes up on debate, or try to get them to bring Gwen in so she can handle the debating to clear up the 'old' business.
