This is my favorite episode and it shows the most fascinating bending style in my opinion. In the Avatar tabletop game I actually play a bloodbender beholden to another player in the party. And she'll use any blood, including her own if she has to in order to defend the party.
The most powerful air bender techniques are : flight, making vacuums, and more spiritual techniques like astral projection.
This ep made the series great to legendary. If its not for kids the series would go full on dark and twisted. I still hope in some version it does.
I think whats most scary about bloodbending is revealed in the way Hama talks. "They're just flowers. When you're a waterbender in a strange land, you do what you must to survive." and "The rats that scurried across the floor of my cage were nothing more than skins filled with liquid." Bloodbending changed the way Hama looks at the world, it corrupted her. She views life and living beings merely as a means to an end.
Also regarding airbenders and a possibility to take the air out of another persons body, do you remember the scene in book one at the southern airtemple where Aang found monk Gyatso's skeleton surrounded by an army of firebender bodies? I don't know if its been ever officially confirmed by the creators, but for most people its headcanon that thats exactly what Gyatso did. He sucked the air out of the entire room and suffocated everyone including himself.
That headcanon is interesting but seeing how it is established that Air Nomads generally don't kill, it seems highly unlikely 🤔.
I don't think it is that unlikely since it was Avatar Yangchen that developed the technique. Also I think when you are facing a situation like the Air Nomads were you become more willing to do what you have to do. My addition to the headcanon of Gyatso using that technique is that the Fire Nation soldiers probably made it known that they were searching for the Avatar and since Gyatso didn't know where Aang was or if he might come back he probably would have wanted to protect him by taking down as many soldiers as he could. Gyatso doesn't strike me as someone who would do something like that lightly, but I can buy that he would do it for Aang. He was already willing to defy the other Masters just to make sure he and Aang weren't separated, but if someone was actually trying to kill Aang he'd probably be pretty pissed.
I know I'm late, but an eclipse is not a full moon so waterbenders do not get any boosts from those.
I know I'm several months late and it may have been explained already but you guys are right about air benders having the potential to control the air in living things to stop them breathing. In theory they are the scariest potential threats the only reason they never do is because they are peaceful nature loving monks who don't want to hurt other people
Bless their hearts. They think The Day of Black Sun is the finale
This episode literality gave me nightmares as a kid bro. Stuffs wild for a kids cartoon.
yall almost had something with the water bending rejuvenation, immortality is actually an earthbending technique where you meditate once a day and rearrange your cells to maintain the same state of your body for years or centuries, its how the guru could be friends with the air benders and possibly how boomie is still fit enough to fight at 112. you also may have missed it during the Kyoshi island episode in season 1 but they said Kyoshi was born there over 400 years ago, Roku died 112 years ago at about ~80 meaning Kyoshi died about 200 years ago placing her age at over 200 years old when she died.
seeohnee predicted this wayyy back, he is big brained master of foreshadowing fr.
Since I first started watching ya'll react to this series there've been a few key points I couldn't wait to see blow your minds. This episode was super top tier on that list. Gott. Damn. Bloodbending! Lets gooooo!
This episode use to terrify me as a kid
