There was a YouTuber who explained pretty well how Adventure Time's narrative and story evolved throughout the seasons (I can't remember the YouTubers name right now unfortunately).
Season 1 to Season 3 he called it the "Episodic Era" where the show was mostly just random adventures and shenanigans and you could pretty much watch the episodes in any order you wanted(which is the format that Channels like Cartoon Network likes the most). There were sprinkles of a story and character depth thrown here and there but it was mostly just self-contained stories.
The Second Era he called it the "Continuous Era" which goes from Season 4 to Season 6, this one you could still watch the show in any order but now you would be missing out on some key details that are necessary to fully understand the show down the line. It is 50% Episodic shenanigans and 50% plot on this point.
The final stretch of the story is referred as "The Serialized Era" which obviously goes from Season 7 to Season 9, it's from here that you must watch the show in the order that was intended... since almost every episode builds upon the already established story or some of the characters in very meaningful ways.
So in short... Adventure Time only becomes more and more plot-heavy as it goes on.
Also yes... I know that the show "officially" has 10 Seasons but that is only because CN wanted it that way for some reason... Even thou the show had 9 seasons when it originally aired and it's very clear where the creators of the show intended for each Season to Begin and End (each season premiere and finale coinciding with a pretty significant moment for the characters in a narrative or thematic way), something that CN screwed up in the last couple seasons.

The vault puts into perspective why PB is the way she is (a sociopathy with people she doesn't trust), basically she is a "demi-goddess" who has lived and seen the world rise from its ashes (in a future episode she show more or less her LONG AGE) and people and acquaintances are born and die (for that reason and REASONS... she values Marceline so much), but unlike Marceline who enjoys her life living freely and without responsibilities, her kingdom and protecting her people have consumed her, The suitor is the greatest proof that when she is not doing things for others, her paranoid mind sends her to be a hermit, I will not say more but I hope you take this into account.

The Vault really puts the difference in age gap between PB and Finn into perspective. Not only is PB older than Finn she was older than his previous reincarnation. Which makes me really glad they didnt go down the path of their romance.

Dungeon train is one of my favorite episodes of the show. I love how the message isn't a simple "don't do addictive things" but instead a more mature "some people can easily get sucked into things and it's fine to continue doing those things as long as you make sure to leave time for other things and other people"

Pretty sure Slime Princess and Pema from Legend of Korra share the same voice actress. She's a lot of other characters too, but this is the one I know off the top of my head!

Also, there's a cook on youtube that made the tume sandwich as exactly as he could following Jake's recipe from the eps, it was pretty fun and interesting to watch. Was a thick ass sandwich too, his name is Babish
