As someone who's parents had both been addicted to Heroine for the majority of mine and my siblings lives and are also now dead because of it, no I do not agree with Ruff that it doesn't effect anyone else. It effects the entire family. My brothers lives miserable lives because of Heroine and now are orphaned because of it too. I don't agree it should be legal either. Legalizing hard drugs will make them more readily available for anyone and will thus ruine more lives and families. Weed is not close to the same thing. Do I think the penalty for heroine should be lessened? 100% absolutely. You shouldn't go to jail for being an addict of anything. The issue is the drugs, NOT that they are illegal. We need to crack down on the hard drug market and prescriptions that contain opioids. That's how a lot of people become addicts, and those are legal.

Alright now that I've watched a little further, I retract my first comment. I was under the impression that he was saying it should be available for everyone, and I see that's not the case. Sorry for the misunderstanding!

I completely agree with what Portugal is doing, however, I feel that is a very good middle ground. Legalizing it so that anyone can get access? No. Decriminalizing it so that anyone who is an addict will not face jail time and instead have the ability to get help? 100% yes. If this were the case here, both my parents would probably still be here

Like Bri said, fentanyl is still a huge issue and that will not stop being an issue if hard drugs are legal. In actuality, legalizing them will make it easier for those lacing them to get ahold of more. And people will still buy from their dealers because it will be a lot cheaper to than to go to a shop. Weed is legal where I live and everyone I know still gets their weed from their dealers, despite having an abundance of ships around. They only occasionally buy from those shops as a treat because it's so much more expensive
