I might be wrong but I'm pretty sure the tallies Vash is making aren't for days he spent in there, especially because when the plant is dying theyre like "what if theyre not compatible with this planet?", like they likely would have figured that out closer to when the ship crashed. I think its something like the number of people he "killed" ( or that Nai killed with the crash, but that he blames himself for ) as a constant reminder to himself of the guilt. Also man it breaks my heart every time he only eats after he's done something "useful" he doesn't think he has the right to just exist

man the music in stampede is just beautiful, especially Nai's theme!
