I’ve never seen the movie but I fell in love with this show almost instantly

You can watch without prior knowledge but it would help ALOT of the confusing elements to watch the movie/comic. This is more of an alternate timeline to the story that polishes alot of the side characters, since the source material was mainly Scott's journey as a person. This one's more about Ramona accepting her past, and how both of them were their own enemy. Though i wish we couldve actually gotten more of their relationship as a couple.

The comic is still my favorite but i truly appreciate every media from this franchise.

This series was just a love letter to the fans. Being a fan before watching would definitely help.

The comics are what originally happened. The movie is the script that Ramona created based on the memoir by Old Young Neil. This show was the sequel to both in a way.

And, as always, Scott is his own worst enemy. This show gave him an opportunity to reflect on his own actions and grow in a way neither the comics or the movie allowed him to before. I don't know how many times I've heard other fans say that Scott is the bad guy, or at least that he's not the good guy. He didn't seem to learn and grow despite the journey. He finally did here.

I love what they did with the story. In the original, neither Scott or Ramona really earned their lesson about what they were doing wrong, but they were forced to confront it in the show, and I think that makes a lot of difference

This was a perfect sequel to the original comic. Ramona and Scott were so full of red flags that Scott was always fated to become the 8th evil Ex. This not only validated that writing choice, which too many people miss, but also redeemed them and the world.

Just finished Scott Pilgrim Takes Off and my heart is so full. They finally delivered the ultimate, animated Scott Pilgrim experience while still having it be a brand new thing. I was tearing up at the end.

That being said it is 100% a sequel.

I’d argue to read the comics instead of The movie it isn’t the worst, but the comics are a better story overall.

Well the novels take place over the course of months. The movie jam packs everything into like one week

I'm confused. If Scott and Ramona were together for like 15 years. Why did they divorce in the first place If future Ramona is still in love with future scott

They weren’t actually divorced, just separated. Ramona said she just needed some space at the time. Scott just overreacted lmao.

Lots of people end up going through really messy patches or full break ups even when they deeply love their partner. We were never told the circumstances, so who knows ??‍♀️

The Anamanaguchi track that plays as they montage everyone is a cover of God Only Knows by the Beach Boys, which is thematically relevant to the whole storyline!

I absolutely loved the Netflix series. It was great. I was disappointed that the anime wasn’t the actual Scott Pilgrim story but I really enjoyed what they did for it. I do hope they eventually make an anime like this following the actual story one day.

My question was Future Scott from the future of the movie timeline, the graphic novel timeline, or just a completely different timeline? I’m curious.

I have a feeling it's just a completely different timeline, or at least that's how I'm going to treat it.

This was actually pretty fun. I probably wouldn't have watched it if it didn't swerve like this, since I've had my fill of the graphic novels and movie.
